And since I'm food-obsessed:

A) What's one awesome food or restaurant chain that is fairly exclusive to your area/region?

B) What's an awesome food or restaurant chain that you always go to when you're in another part of the country/world that's exclusive to that area/region?

Mine would be:

A) Grotto's Pizza, very different kind of taste and most people either love it or hate it and I happen to love it.
B) Hands down I always hit up Steak 'n Shake when I visit my mom in NC. Holyhell that place is like my mecca.

A) Shell's BBQ. There's only one, and it's beyond awesome. I love it there and I eat there once a week, at least. It's in a 1950s diner, and they serve BBQ along with good country cooking. YUM.

B) Gray's Papaya hotdog in Manhattan. It makes me squee.

A. Bill Grays... They aren't really a "chain", as they only have like 4 locations, but they are awesome. They serve hot dogs, burgers, garbage plates (also exclusive to our area), etc.

B. We don't travel much, so I don't know. I'd love to try Jiffy Steak and Lube, and Sonic, though.

A. It's starting to branch out, but Jersey Mike's subs started in hubby's hometown, they are 1000 times more awesome than subway.

B. BOJANGLES!

ahhhh bojangles. The best chicken biscuit place on earth. I always forget they're not national, and it makes me sad all over again for all of you when I remember.

I have a friend who visits from Baltimore periodically, and we cannot leave the Charlotte airport without stopping at the Bojangles like 1/2 a mile outside the terminal.

A. Imos Pizza, it's an acquired taste. Super super thin crust pizza with provell cheese. OMG, so good. They have toasted ravioli too, which aren't actually toasted, they're fried.

B. Taco Cabana, the only thing I miss about my ex is going to visit his rockin family in texas and eating too many breakfast tacos from there.

You know where my mind is going on this, but I can't think of a reasonable explanation for the name.

It would be like that episode of Seinfeld where George tries to combine his two loves, sex and food, by eating a sandwhich while doing the deed. You get your steak and some fun too :) Oh and it would have to be fast. Hence the "jiffy" part.

A) Granite City - best Cheddar & Ale soup ever. Machine Shed; Johnny's Steakhouse; Waveland Cafe.

B) Dallas TX: Feed Store BBQ; J has to hit Whataburger and Waffle House; NC: Lexington BBQ, Portofino's, The Soda Shop in Davidson. VA: Five Guys, Crab Louies.

B) Dunkin Donuts in Boston, Tim Horton's in Buffalo or Canada. Or Mighty Taco and Anderson's in Buffalo. There's a lot of good food there.

A. Snook's bbq. Like Becs choice, it's the only one in the world and it is fucking amazing.

B. Carolina Cantina in Wilmington. I don't think it's there anymore, but they had the best tacos I've ever had. On top of that, every Tuesday was dollar taco night.
